dtac becomes first operator to charge one rate SMS roaming worldwide December 12, 2007 On the move to make customers feel goood constantly, dtac announced to become the first operator in Thailand to use one rate SMS roaming for postpaid, prepaid and business customers by charging Bt12 per SMS when roaming on 350 networks in 140 foreign countries. The new rate is aimed to promote simplicity in tariff charging, effective from December 13 onwards. Wansit Saiyawan, Senior Vice President/Head of International Business Unit, said dtac decided to use the same rate for SMS roaming service on 350 networks in 140 countries in 6 continents to reduce complexity in service tariff. The company changed the rate for SMS roaming service to Bt12 (VAT excluded) when the SMS is being sent on any operator, which dtac provides international roaming service coverage. Usually, the rates for international roaming services depend on each operator in that country. But to help ease our customers understanding on our tariffs, we decided to use the same rate for the sake of simplicity. All in all, we want to create satisfaction among customers, which in line with our feel goood campaign, Wansit said. The new tariff method is aimed to better serve dtac customers in the travel segment, who are businessmen, staff of airlines, hotels and tourism businesses and leisure tourists because these groups of customers frequently use SMS roaming service.
